Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God, the Father of all
The RCIA is a journey of discovery and inquiry into the Catholic faith. This is a year-round, gradual process adapted to the needs of those who inquire. For some, this may be the culmination of many years of praying, worshipping, studying, and probing into the Catholic Church. For others, this may be their first steps towards faith formation.
The RCIA team members are sensitive to the varied life experiences of those inquiring into the faith. The RCIA is a process of equipping participants with the proper tools for faith formation. It is a balance of Scripture reflection and catechesis.
The RCIA takes place within the entire community of the faithful. The entire community of St. Susanna has the opportunity to model faith for those inquiring and entering the Church. Conversely, the catechumens and candidates through their dedication, prayer, and perseverance are a spectacular witness to the community of the faithful of the power of the Holy Spirit.
The RCIA process is for adults considering joining the church or completing their initiation into the Catholic Faith through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. This first phase of the RCIA process offers inquirers an informal opportunity to form relationships with one another while having their initial questions of the Catholic faith answered.
