Where:
In the Youth Room in the Undercroft
Why:
To build a Catholic Christian community of faith as and effective means of faith formation for the junior high students of St. Susanna’s Parish and their friends.
Structure:
We will gather as a large group and break open the Word. Then there will be a speaker who gives a short, 15-20 minute talk about the topic of the week. From there, the students will break apart into small faith communities of about 10-15 students lead by an adult facilitator. They will discuss their thoughts and feelings about the topic. The groups will then again reassemble into the large group and close with a prayer. Sprinkled throughout this meeting will be fun activities to encourage teaching moments. Snacks will served at each meeting.
Special Events:
Periodically, we will be sponsoring a service project or a social night,
which is open to all students who are members of St. Susanna’s Parish.
There are also seasonal special events including a fall Cemetery Crawl
and a spring end-of-the year bash.
Traditionally, the junior high group has helped with parish Lenten projects and other St. Susanna service projects.
Throughout the year, there will be opportunities for the students to participate in outreach programs. As a group, we visit the residents at St. Joseph’s Home in Sharonville at Christmas and Easter bringing our crafts-with-a-purpose. In the summer, poverty and social justice is explored in several one-week sessions of Kicked-Up Bible School.
