A Centralized CFP Resource Room/Religious Formation Resource Room
A centrally-located CFP Resource Room will facilitate catechist access to vital materials, raise productivity and efficiency in lesson planning, and enrich lessons. Currently, there is no centralized area for the 120 catechists to peruse resources, prepare lesson plans, or assemble materials to educate 1,100 Parish children. CFP uses multiple storage spaces, scattered throughout the school, making it difficult for catechists to access the wealth of resources they have available to them. The new CFP Resource Room will serve as a centralized resource library and workroom to help catechists, home-schooling parents, and religion teachers better prepare lessons and access resources.
A New Media Center
The new Media Center will provide the space and resources required for the growing school. It will be 200% larger than the current space, accommodating twice as many books, additional technology, and more students. The current Media Center was designed 20 years ago to contain 6,000 books and meet the needs of 200 students. With 646 students, the enrollment has tripled, printed materials have doubled, and technology demands have increased. The current Media Center has the capacity for only two computers for students to use for research, viewing non-print resources, and taking Accelerated Reader quizzes. The new Media Center will create a wireless learning hub where students can use a variety of materials and technology to research and collaborate on assignments.
A New Technology Lab
The new Technology Lab will be larger and more centrally-located in the Education Center. The additional space will allow the classroom to be configured in a way that will be more conducive for learning. The layout of the current Technology Lab requires that desks be arranged around the perimeter of the room resulting in the majority of the students facing the walls. This configuration prohibits the use of a SMART Board for educational presentations and demonstrations. The new lab will provide ample space for proper desk configuration, projection, and other learning tools.
To raise necessary funds for this renovation as well as future projects, St. Susanna Parish has established an Annual Fund Drive. Proceeds will be used for capital projects and improvements related to the Education Center and the addition of academic and religious programs and resources. In other words, as the community raises money to improve the Education Center facilities, it will simultaneously invest in the educational development of the parish children by allocating 20% of the proceeds to enhance programs and resources. The total cost of the proposed renovation is approximately $350,000-$400,000. All money donated, with the exception of the twenty percent for academic and faith formation programs, will remain in an Annual Fund account until the renovation is complete. We are hoping for 100% participation from school and CFP families. Full participation demonstrates the parish’s commitment to religious and academic education. Achieving better then 90% participation in fund raising is one of the criteria necessary to be considered for certain grants available to the Education Center. Each family is asked to give generously to the best of their ability. All donations are appreciated as each gift will make a difference in the lives of many children and programs that are offered.
The theme of the Fund Drive, Together We Give…Together We Grow, reflects a desire and responsibility, as a community, to work together to accomplish shared goals. Encourage and energize each other to faithfully partake in this fundraiser. With 100% participation, the current goal, to renovate the former cafeteria, can be achieved in just a few years.
