1976
Mrs. Eileen Lipps was hired in the summer of 1976 to become the first Director of Religious Education (D.R.E.) and in October Deacon Robert Marcotte began to serve the parish. This was the beginning of a wave of change which would overtake the parish in the next decade. Parish Council and the Education Commission would be revamped to bring them into line with Vatican II recommendations. Many parish commissions began to take form. The youth group was reorganized.
1977
Festivals were re-established in 1977, and in 1979 a Knights of Columbus Council was formed to serve both St. Susanna and St. John Parish, West Chester.
1980
In 1980, the Parish Affairs Commission was formed to aid parish groups and organizations not otherwise represented on Parish Council. P.A.C. took over maintenance of the parish calendar and began to publish "Glad Tidings", a monthly newsletter. P.A.C. would later change its name to "Communications Commission."
A census in April 1980 showed 501 families registered, plus an additional 37 families who wished to register. In June, Mrs. Lipps resigned to take a full-time teaching position. During her time here, she had re-vitalized a floundering C.C.D. program. She was replaced as D.R.E. by Pat Cruise. Mrs. Helen Sherman became the first lay principal, ending a forty-two year parish association with the Sisters of Notre Dame.
