Lenten Happenings
This Lent, increase your prayer for the Souls in Purgatory by joining in praying a special version of the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent at 6:45am. We will be praying with the book The Way of the Cross for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.
These meditations are beautifully written to elevate your heart and mind toward our dearly departed, while praying for their final purification for Heaven. It is not necessary for you to own the book. Handouts will be provided. Just arrive a few minutes early and take a seat in the church. Expect the full devotion to last approximately 35 minutes.
Join us for The Way of the Cross in the church Fridays during Lent at 3:15pm, 6:00pm (in Spanish), or 7:00pm.
We encourage parents to attend at 3:15pm with their children after school. Student readers are needed to read the reflection for each Station at 3:15pm, click here to sign up.
The Way of the Cross (also known as the Stations of the Cross, Via Crucis, or Via Dolorosa) is a wonderful way to accompany Jesus on His way to Calvary, reflecting prayerfully on what He suffered to redeem us, using words and images to experience Christ’s love for us.
Whether you come regularly or just once, alone or with family and friends, this devotion offers a meaningful way to slow down, refocus, and prepare our hearts for the joy of the Resurrection at Easter. All are welcome — we hope you’ll join us.
The Fish Fry will run for six weeks, through April 11th, from 5:00-8:00pm. Drive-thru service is available, and in addition to our regular sit-down service, we are offering a quiet sit-down option for the “Young at Heart” in the Rose Room. We look forward to seeing you!
On Sundays during Lent, everyone is invited to pray the Rosary following the 9:30am Mass (we will begin at approximately 10:45am), with special intentions for our Ugandan Family of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish (OLPH). Parishioners from OLPH will join us virtually.
We will meet in the church, behind the choir section, each Sunday, February 22nd through March 22nd.
There will be a special Lenten Healing Prayer Service on Saturday, February 28th, from 6:30-8:30pm. Join us in the church for a night of praise and worship music, the Sacrament of Confession, group healing prayer, and time with individual Prayer Teams for healing. Contact the Parish Office, or email calpins@stsusanna.org, for more details.
Lent is an opportunity to return to God with all your heart. We have a great opportunity to take advantage of the Lord’s love, mercy, and forgiveness at the Lenten Penance Service on Wednesday, March 25th, at 7:00pm.
We will have several priests available to help us celebrate the Sacrament of Penance. There will be prayer, Gospel reading, and reflection along with an examination of conscience and an act of contrition before Confessions. After Confession, once you have finished your prayers of penance/thanksgiving, you are free to leave, as there is no formal conclusion to the service.
This Lenten season, the FON Twinning Ministry invites you to reach out to Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) in Mbarara, Uganda, by participating in efforts to raise funds to help build a computer lab. This includes building a classroom, buying supplies for the lab, and purchasing 20 computers. Click here for more information.
